Dear Colleagues,

Regenerative medicine is a scientific area at the intersection between biomedical research, technology and patient care that captivates our imagination. Regenerative approaches aim to develop fundamentally new therapies to help our bodies restore or regenerate organs and tissues that suffered damaged by injury, ageing, cancer or disease. Current medicine relies on organ transplants or artificial devices that support tissue function, but these approaches can never fully restore original organ function. Nearly all organs contain stem cells, undifferentiated cell types that retain the capacity of self-renewal and also harbor the potential to regenerate damaged tissues by cell therapy or by stimulating endogenous stem cells to repair our own tissues. A growing field of interest develops biotherapeutics for postmitotic organs with very low stem cell content to stimulate differentiated cells to transiently proliferate and achieve endogenous tissue repair. Various species of non-coding RNAs are intricately involved in the maintenance of stem cell properties, stem cell differentiation and proliferative capacity of postmitotic cell types.

This special issue on the ‘non-coding RNAs in Regenerative Medicine’ welcomes research and review articles that showcase the emerging importance of non-coding RNAs in Regenerative Medicine. Interested authors are encouraged to contact the journal at wei.yan@keaipublishing.com for general queries or if you wish to check with the guest editor regarding the suitability of your article for this special issue. Articles submitted to this special issue will be published with waived publication costs, provided the submissions are made by the due date (31 March 2017).

Please visit the Guide for Authors before submission, and submit your papers via the online submission site.
