Special Issue on Materials for Sustainable Energy and Environment

Published 19 February, 2024

Introduction:

In recent years, the global focus on sustainable energy and environmental preservation has intensified due to rising concerns over climate change, resource depletion and pollution. The search for innovative materials is crucial in reshaping our energy practices and advancing environmental protection. The imperative to transition towards sustainable energy sources is underscored by the need to mitigate greenhouse gas emissions and reduce dependence on finite fossil fuels.

To that end, researchers and engineers worldwide are harnessing novel materials to revolutionize energy generation, conversion and storage. Sustainable energy solutions are expanding through interdisciplinary collaborations and cutting-edge materials innovation. Additionally, as society confronts escalating environmental challenges, materials science offers promising avenues for tackling pollution and enhancing ecological resilience. From pollutant adsorption and remediation technologies to biodegradable materials and circular economy initiatives, the pursuit of environmentally benign materials is reshaping approaches to sustainable development.

This special issue features the latest research and advancements in materials aimed at advancing sustainable energy technologies and environmental preservation.
