We are pleased to announce Dr Michael Maerker has been appointed as co-Editor-in-Chief of International Soil and Water Conservation Research (ISWCR).
Dr Maerker is a senior scientist and research group leader at Leibniz Centre for Agricultural Landscape Research (ZALF), Germany and an Associate Professor in the Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences at the University of Pavia, Italy.
Dr Maerker is a geomorphologist and soil scientist by training. His current research team focuses on methodologies such as environmental modeling, geographic information system (GIS), remote sensing, geostatistics and data mining. These methodological approaches are applied in the spatio-temporal assessment of soils and soil properties , as well as surface-forming processes such as soil erosion and mass movements.
Dr Maerker’s recent research has been linked to the integration of different soil erosion processes and the assessment of soil surface characteristics. Moreover, he studies how climate change impacts sediment dynamics. He has authored and co-authored more than 200 publications, including 129 refereed journal articles and 13 book chapters. His studies have been cited more than 6,000 times according to Google Scholar.
