Wenxing Zhou is a Professor in the Department of Civil &Environmental Engineering at the University of Western Ontario (Western University) in London, Canada. He obtained his BEng, MEng, PhD from Tongji University (1993), Tsinghua University (1996), and Western University (2001), respectively. Dr. Zhou?s research focuses mainly on the reliability- and risk-based integrity assessments of infrastructure systems with a particular focus on oil and gas pipelines. He is one of the two principal investigators for developing the reliability-based design and assessment guidelines for onshore natural gas pipelines, the first of its kind in the world and adopted in the Canadian pipeline standard CSA Z662 since 2013. Supported by the pipeline industry and Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada, Dr. Zhou and his research group developed tools to facilitate pipeline integrity management with respect to corrosion, dents, dent-gouges, near-neutral pH stress corrosion cracking and ground movements. Dr. Zhou has published 95+ journal papers and is a World‘ss Top 2% Scientist according to Stanford University?s rankings (2021-2023). Since 2017, Dr. Zhou has been the Vice Chair of the Technical Committee for the CSA Z260 standard “Pipeline system safety metrics” and a member of the Risk Management Task Force for CSA Z662. In 2015, Dr. Zhou was awarded the Japan Society for Promotion of Science (JSPS) Invitation Fellowship for Research. He received the Faculty Scholar Award at Western University in 2022 for his outstanding achievements in teaching and research.
